A Bank Branding Win for Mountain West

“If you’re looking for someone who has expertise in marketing and promoting your bank, there’s no question in my mind that On The Mark is an excellent choice.” – Dan Price, Community Banking President, Mountain West Bank

On The Mark Strategies is a skilled consulting agency that performs branding work for many clients, including bank branding. The firm is renowned for its devotion to brand strategy. Your branding experience with On The Mark Strategies is different than other offerings for three key reasons:

  • Strategy comes first…not creative
  • Everyone feels like an owner under our Brand Triangle Model
  • Little heavy lifting for you since we do the hard work

See how Mountain West Bank received an incredible bank branding process that delivered real results.

Situation

Mountain West Bank partnered with On The Mark Strategies to address a lack of consistency across its branding and overall visual identity. Recognizing the need for outside expertise, the bank sought a partner with proven experience working with larger teams and the ability to distill complex ideas into a clear, usable framework.

“We weren’t consistent in our overall branding and look, so we were hoping to find a partner who could help us with that,” said Dan Price, Community Banking President at Mountain West Bank. “We knew immediately we wanted to go external and work with someone who had done this before.”

Actions

Mountain West Bank found its experienced partner in On The Mark Strategies. Through its structured approach, On The Mark Strategies helped Mountain West refine its bank branding. The project centered on brand strategy, which included two key elements:

  1. Research
  2. Strategy Workshop

On The Mark Strategies conducts brand research using mystery shops, competitor analyses, Census data, FDIC data and critical analysis of any data the bank provides. That research informs the strategy workshop.

In the strategy workshop, a bank goes through a brand wayfinder differentiation exercise to determine its brand’s future character. For example: will it be more of a traditional bank or a hip coffee shop? The bank branding team also “cusses-and-discusses” vision, values, messaging and target markets at the workshop to decide on further brand characteristics.

Results

Mountain West was satisfied with the project’s results. In particular, it praised the ability of the On The Mark Strategies team to help foster strategic focus around bank branding.

“The perfect customer for On The Mark is anybody struggling with their marketing focus,” Price said. “It’s anyone trying to figure out who they are as an organization and how you want to take who you are and promote it to your world. If you’re looking for a partner who can help you organize your thoughts and generate thoughts, On The Mark Strategies is a really great organization to do that.”
